On 15 October 2014 the non-profit partnership Transport Union of the North-West marked its fifteenth anniversary. Members and partners of the organisation and heads of transport companies sent their congratulations.

“Dear colleagues, I warmly congratulate you on the fifteenth anniversary of the founding of the Transport Union of the North-West. The record of the Union’s work over these years — an organisation bringing together a wide circle of company directors, sectoral unions and associations — convincingly shows that it has proved able to deal effectively with the pressing problems of transport, transport construction and the road economy, and to help preserve the scientific and industrial capacity of the sector. This anniversary is a good opportunity to take stock and to determine how to strengthen the Union’s influence on the economic and social development of the city and of the North-West as a whole,” wrote Aleksey Palin, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg and chair of its specialist commission on the transport sector.

The North-West branch of the Association of International Road Carriers, headed by A. M. Datsyuk, sent its congratulations to the Union and its members.

“Throughout these years the Transport Union of the North-West has taken an active and purposeful part in consolidating and coordinating the work of transport professionals in North-West Russia, in developing the sector across the federal district, and in widening mutually beneficial contacts with public authorities and civic organisations. The Union has become a body of the first importance for the effectiveness of the industry as a whole,” wrote S. O. Baryshnikov, rector of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. The university and the Union have worked together for many years.

“The Transport Union of the North-West is an influential civic organisation, necessary if the region’s transport infrastructure is to be improved effectively. Through professionalism, consistency and persistence the Union has earned the standing and respect of the city’s business community and authorities, and this tells on the development of Saint Petersburg as a unique transport hub,” wrote A. Turchak, president, and V. Ivanov, director general, of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Saint Petersburg.

The Marine Technical College of Saint Petersburg thanked the presidium of the Union for many years of work in consolidating and coordinating the transport professionals of North-West Russia, and confirmed that, in training people for the sea and river fleet, the college remains a reliable partner in developing the country’s transport infrastructure.

The partnership Technical Control and Diagnostics and the union of technical experts Tekhexpert thanked the Union for its help with the practical problems of road safety and for its support of the professional community of vehicle inspection operators.

VTB Insurance noted that over fifteen years the Union has served the economic development of the region, helping to raise the competitiveness of transport companies and to strengthen business contacts in Russia and abroad.

“The work of your Union has a substantial effect on the development of transport infrastructure in North-West Russia. The Union brings together a great many professionals and acts as an authoritative intermediary in the dialogue with the business community of Saint Petersburg,” wrote N. V. Gordeev, director general of Gorizont-Telecom.
