An agreement between the Union, the Leningrad Federation of Trade Unions and the governments of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

The documents for an agreement on cooperation between the Transport Union of the North-West, the Leningrad Federation of Trade Unions, the Government of Saint Petersburg and the Government of the Leningrad Region were approved at the presidium meeting of 4 February 2014. The agreement provides for cooperation on transport security and the environment, road safety, compliance with labour law in respect of transport workers, the regulation of passenger and freight tariffs, and the creation of favourable conditions for transport companies following Russia’s accession to the WTO.

According to Vladimir Khodyrev, president of the Transport Union of the North-West, the purpose of the four-party agreement is to work out joint approaches to improving the transport sector and to design and deliver sectoral programmes for Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. The Union’s initiative found support in the Leningrad Federation of Trade Unions. Its chairman, Vladimir Derbin, noted that the federation includes associations of transport workers, and expressed the hope that these territorial organisations would also join in delivering the agreement.

The presidium resolved to send the document for approval to the city and regional transport committees, and then to pass it to the governors of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region for signature.
